  • Any good old-school famtasy novels?

Seems like ever fantasy novel today is following the Game of Thrones trend of making gritty, "realistic" fantasy. I want a list of good, old-school, hardcore, nerdy fantasy novels. (You know, the kind with elves, dwarves, magic, merry pubs etc) And please don't recommend LOTR, I've already read them. So any sugestions are appreciated.

  • Is Assassin's Creed IV for PC optimized?

Hi, I would like to pick up AC: Black Flags for the PC but I'm worried whether the games is properly optimized or not. I have AC III and I still haven't finished it since the game becomes nigh unplayable in certain areas due to lousy optimization (10-15 FPS in Boston, the range is between 45-10 FPS in the wilderness usually). Can anyone who has already played AC:IV tell me whether the game is well optimized or not? Thanks!

  • Higher education in the U.S?

Hi, right now I am doing a course known as a BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) which is a 3 year, undergraduate course at an Indian college. I've joined a coaching program which prepares you for exams such as the GRE and TOEFL. I was wondering weather I would be able to do a MS in Computer Science from an American University after completing my BCA and writing my GRE and TOEFL. I've heard that undergraduate courses usually take 4 years in the U.S and as a result those who have only done 3 years of undergrad study have to make up for lost time before being admitted, I've also heard that the good universities don't usually accept those who have not done at least 4 years of undergrad studies. Is this true? Please help. Thanks.

  • How to prevent back problems?

I come from a family of people with back problems. My mom has spinal disc herniation, so does her sister. My maternal cousin had a back problem so bad that she had to have a metal rod inserted into back when she was 16. I'm 18 and I also feel slight back aches every once in a while (especially after doing push-ups). I'm not very physically active as in I don't play any sports or anything and am more of an indoors kind of guy. I was wondering if there are any good exercises or diets or something that could help prevent general back aches and pains especially in the future.

  • Far Cry 3 long loading screen issue.?

Hi, the initial loading screen for Far Cry 3 on my computer was taking around 5-10 minutes to complete. I've figured out the cause, it's because Windows runs an process called wmiprvse.exe which hogs up all the CPU usage. Every time I boot up FC3 I have to manually exit (Ctrl+Alt+Del), go to task manager and end that process. I was wondering if there was any way I could stop wmiprvse.exe from running when launching FC3?

I realize that wmiprvse.exe is a windows file so I don't think it would be safe to delete it.

  • Can I study BCA without maths in +2?

I have taken +2 commerce with computer science and not maths. The college I'm applying to says that I don't need to have studied maths in +2 to study BCA. All they require is either 2 years of maths or 2 years of computer science in +1 and +2, the latter of which I have done. This seems kind of strange since everyone I have talked to says you need Maths in +2 to study BCA. Is it okay if I choose to study BCA or will I struggle because of my lack of maths?

  • Good name for a substance for a steam-punk story.?

I'm looking for a good name for a substance (like an element) that is used to augment people with clockwork technology in my story. It has to sound scientific but not too scientific as the story takes place in a Victorian setting.

  • Overvclocking the HD 6670?

    Hello everyone

I have an ASUS Radeon HD 6670 with 1 GB DDR5 memory. ASUS does not provide any oc software with the card like Sapphire does. I've also heard that it was non-overclockable. But could I use a 3rd party software like MSI Afterburner to oc it anyways?
