Ok, so I decided that instead of buying furniture for my new room, I am going to build it. It might not be cheaper, but I think it will be fun. So I got a used Dewalt circular saw and drill for cheap. Can I build a good desk with just those 2 tools?

Why, why evolution?

A few months ago I somehow got food poisoning. I ate fried fish, then about 2 hours later I began vomiting non-stop for about 24ish hours. I didn't get any sort of treatment, the symptoms just stopped after about a day. I don't think I had a fever, but then again I was too out of it to check/notice.

I have 2 theories...

1. Improper storage of fish caused the fish to produce large amounts of histamine. I ate the fish and consequentially ingested a large amount of histamines--->vomiting

2. Fish was contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus (or some other pathogen), which produced an entertoxin once inside my stomach---> stimulation of vagus nerve---> vomiting

I'm really curious if anyone has any ideas, because this was the worst I've ever felt in my life.

Ok, so in class we are talking about how mouse derived antibodies cannot be therapeutically used in humans because they are foreign. Instead, we can use recombinant DNA to produce an antibody that contains the V region from a mouse and the C region from a human. He says that this hybrid antibody is still immunogenic because of the mouse V region, but not as much as an antibody that is entirely mouse derived.

My question is, if our immune systems are capable of mounting a response to variable regions on Ab, how do we not produce immune responses to our own variable regions. Are all our antibodies tolerated against all the endless combinations of our other antibodies...That seems unlikely? How does this work?

I had an interesting thing happen to me a few weeks ago. Maybe someone knowledgeable about the human body can give a reason why this might happen.

I ate 2 fillets of fried catfish from my local discount grocery store...I know, probably not the best idea. 3-4 hours later I began to feel very sick, and I soon began vomiting. This lasted for an hour or two until I had nothing to vomit up.

At this point, I was kind of hallucinating/dreaming...constantly being between awake and asleep (like when you get a bad cold and can't sleep at night), about me owing an auto shop. When I was fully awake, I had the uncontrollable urge to drink water. I would get out of my bed and fill up a glass of water and chug it. I remember that it tasted so good. After I was done, a few minutes later I would get another glass. This would continue until I began to feel sick from drinking so much water. Eventually I would vomit up pure water because I couldn't stop myself from drinking more water.

After I had vomited, I would feel better for maybe 30 minutes, then the cycle would start again. I probably drank 2 gallons of water, judging by how full my trashcan was of water-throwup.

Why would this happen? I would be interested to know!

If Nitrogen has four things bonded to it (making it positively charged), what is its hybridization level? I think it is sp3, but I am not sure. Thanks for the help!!!

Jim and Sally have 13 marbles in a bag, with each marble given a number (1-13). Jim wants to make a bet. The bet is as follows:

Sally gets to randomly pull 8 marbles out of the bag. Their numbers are written down and the marbles are replaced. Jim then randomly picks 6 marbles. They then compare what marbles each picked. If Jim picked at least 2 of the same marbles that Sally picked, then Sally wins. What is the probability that Sally wins?

Would adding acid to a enol cause more enol to be formed at equilibrium? Or less? Or no effect? Im confused.

Is sulfer, in any way, related (in a somewhat direct manner) to the immune system of a plant. If I stop all sulfer intake into a plant, would a side effect be an impaired immune system?

If you increase the interstitial fluid around the capillaries of the lungs, what will be the effect? (Please help, I can't think this one through):

A. An increase in CO2 concentration in blood

B. An increase in O2 concentration in blood

C. The capillaries will burst

D. Both B and C

Flying is not really an option at this point. Was thinking a combo of driving and taking a train

This isn't a question about segregation or necessarily black civil rights, but the effects that the civil rights movement had on the rest (or mainstream) of society.

Reaching absolute zero would be possible as long as the process of doing so created an increase in entropy elsewhere. Similar to how evolution is possible. There, I just solved one of the world's great mysteries. (Probably not, but I'm bored)
