Know anything about Watergate. Nixon got canceled, to use your words, by Republicans. The reason that Nixon resigned in 1974 was because a group of senior Republican Senators, including Barry Goldwater and Bob Dole, went to him and informed him that there were enough Republican votes against him in the Senate to convict and remove him if he forced the Congress to impeach him. That's why Nixon resigned. And if Nixon had resigned then he would have been the first president removed from office. If Republicans had stood behind Nixon, as they did Donald Trump, then he would have survived impeachment and finished out his second term

--  I believe that Richard Nixon was more closely involved in the Watergate scandal, and that he should have gone to prison instead of just resigning as president.

'Canceled' seems like an odd term to use when 'caught' is perfectly fine for what happens when the law catches up with a criminal.
