How is life in California?

I always wonder how is life in california, i've always wanted to live there but i don't know how things are there, i've heard about people who have moved there and have ended up homeless or have ended up paying more rent than where they used to live before.

It is expensive! My daughter lives in Northern California.  A one bedroom apartment going to be at least $1500 per month in most areas. Gasoline is more, insurance is more, food is more. Taxes are more. Cost of homes is more.

Depending on where you live now, the costs there can be significantly more.

You can research costs. You can research areas and crime before you look for jobs.

You need a job already lined up before you move.

I am waiting on a response from a would-be employer to move to Alabama from here.  Do you want to live in Alabama?  No?  Well, I'd rather live there than California.  That's what it's like to live in California.

It depends where you live but California is amazing. Yes there’s crime but the key to live in California is he friendly, budget your money and work.

Networking can help you find some good paying jobs.

There are 58 different counties in this very large state and even within those counties there are differing lifestyles, standards of living, attitudes and behaviors. But yeah, this state does tend to lure people in who have no real way to earn enough to live here.

California is a big state.  Fresno is far different from Eureka. Rent is high in some places but not as high as Hawaii or New York City.  Much of the state is like many other states: people go to work, go home and do some social things.  You should identify exactly WHY you think you want to move here not just some fantasy notion. Then you visit.

If you are moving from Beatrice, NE then your rent will be much more expensive.

If you are moving from Honolulu, HI then your rent will most likely be less expensive.

There are plenty of people who think that they can afford to move here and then end up homeless because they did believe the cost of living information.

Life is good, but the taxes and living expenses are extreme.
