“If the American Rescue Plan could lead to these numbers, imagine what the even bigger, bolder American Jobs Plan will do for our recovery.”?
- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), talking about the March jobs report. The ARP passed on March 11, and 20 days later 916,000 people had gone back to work. This is Schumer's contention. Amazing, no? What will they think of next?
Do you think Sen. Schumer believes what he's saying, or is he simply assuming we're not bright enough to recognize a lifetime pol's mindless pandering when we see it?
Yes, AnonnieGurl, I do know that the reason for the excellent jobs reports of the past few months has been almost exclusively due to red states reopening and their hospitality and bar staffs being recalled to work. I do keep up, believe it or not. ;-)
P.S. Free money from the Federal government has nothing to do with unemployment UNLESS it arrives in the form of INCREASED unemployment benefits.
That's not part of the conversation here.

it's bogus. there are bottlenecks is the Infrastructure plan -- shortage of skilled labor, for example [or maybe the left plans to import construction workers from Mexico, eh?]

I don't consider having everyone working for the government as a sustainable jobs plan.
I would rather see private industry see a need for a service and invest than government just footing the whole bill like all the Green New Deal projects will need.
Studies have shown that as soon as the money stops the projects die.

How does receiving a one time $1400 check take you off unemployment? You do k ow the jobs numbers have been increasing as red states open up right?
