Do Road bike models share the same frame?

Take for example the 2020 Giant Defy Advanced.

They do:

Defy Advanced 1 (Ultegra)

Defy Advanced 2 (105)

Dedy Advanced 3 (Tiagra)

Is it the same frame but just different mech etc?

Thanks

Maximum road bikes made by strong and thin lightweight aluminum frame. But I know a road bike model that is made with steel frame, Eurobike EUR XC550 Road Bike.

Yes and no.  The idea is that you have the same frame, but alter the kit.  So Ultegra would be on the Advanced 1, but as you pointed out the 2 uses 105.  And this happens throughout the different models allowing them to differentiate the pricing for the same frame.  However, I have a Defy 1.  This has tripple welds on the frame, but the Defy 2 just has standard welds.  So this appears to be a move away from just upgrading the kit.

So usually you would be correct.  Another thing to consider is the change in materials.  The frame might share the same geometry and kit, but you then have the same pricing strategy on Ti and carbon models.

So usually yes, but sometimes no.

If you're comparing bikes within the same company & the same base name...for the most part, yes.

The main difference between frames on this Fuji Sportif 2.3 & the more expensive Fuji Sportif 1.3 Disc is the fork material.  The 2.3 uses an alloy fork.  https://www.fujibikes.com/usa/bikes/road/endurance...

The 1.3 Disc uses a carbon fiber fork. https://www.fujibikes.com/usa/bikes/road/endurance...

Other than that, frame geometry on both bikes is identical.

Yes and no, it just depends on the particular series by a particular manufacturer.

Sometimes the frame geometry is the same and the components and/or frame material is different.

Sometimes the components are the same but the frame geometry and/or frame material is different.

Concerning just those three models, the frame geometry on all of them are identical.

    2021 Defy Advanced 2 - https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/defy-advanced-2-...

There is no 2021 Advanced 3.  This is the 2020 model.  https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/defy-advanced-3-...

As far as I can tell, all three use both carbon fiber frames & forks.  All ya had to do was go to the Giant website & look for yourself. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us
