Why won't GRR Martin just admit he's never going to finish Game of thrones?
Instead of always saying next year, next year. He said next year last year and now has already admitted it won't happen this year.

Martin is infamous for not completing his massive works on time. While fans can and do pester him or make demands, he answers only to his publisher. They are apparently fine with Martin missing his deadlines, and missing the new deadline, over and over, because when--and if--he completes a book, it's certain to sell extremely well, making money for Martin and the publisher.
I presume, at his age and apparent health, that he's probably been urged by his publisher to at least complete an outline or other plan for the series conclusion, and possibly to tap who he'd want to finish it if he can't.

Well, because never say never.........it's not impossible, that he finally *will* one day...... maybe........but clearly in no hurry to do so and hey, common practice is to always leave the fans wanting more!
As an aside, ever since Stargate Universe abruptly ended it's second season on a cliffhanger, and then cancelled the series.......there has been endless continuous talk of making a movie to wrap the cliff hanger up.
Fans keep clamoring for this movie....and every year, new rumors start that production has started, or a script has been approved.......but then, nothing ever comes of it........but, it keeps the FANS buying tickets to Comic Cons, to keep ASKING.......when the hell the movie is coming out!!!!
To this day, they STILL insist.......that the movie is "in the works".... and most recently, the newest rumor is, that MGM is working on a new *series*.......that will pick up where Stargate Universe left off.......
and they keep dangling that bait........to keep the fans demanding it!

I think he has too much fun annoying people who won't shut up about when the next book is coming out. I read he is also busy with other projects. I take it your in the Paul and Storm camp and not the John Anealio camp :)

He doesn't answer to you or any member of the general public. And an author whose books sell at the rate his do doesn't get much grief from his publishers either. His next book will be released when he's good and ready. And if he doesn't manage to complete it, there's nothing anyone can do about it, so there's no point complaining about it.
