    Many Catalonians would agree with that, but it's still a part of Spain.  That would be like saying "Southern France isn't really France".

    It's the same as Munich in Germany, they are considered different culturally and often called Bavarians but it's still part of Germany and they are still German.

    Catalonians are still Spanish and Spanish speaking even if there is a slightly different dialect
