Yes being that obese will interfere with your fertility, it’s natures way of saying you could suffer major health issues if you were to get pregnant

Only your doctor can advise as to whether it is a good idea for you to conceive right now. I would suggest a check up with your doctor and discuss this with him/her.

As for obesity causing infertility, for some women it does and for others it does not. Having regular periods without any obvious issues may indicate your fertility is good, but if your cycles are long (45 days or longer in between periods) or you skip months without a period, that could signal a fertility issue.

    Good luck.

Talk with your ob/gyn.  Yes, obesity can cause fertility issues, but if you are having regular cycles, that may not be a problem for you.  Generally, data suggest that the higher the BMI, the longer it takes to concieve.

Having a BMI over 30 during pregnancy increases the risk of various pregnancy complications, including:

The risk of miscarriage, stillbirth and recurrent miscarriage

    Gestational diabetes

A pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system, most often the liver and kidneys (preeclampsia)

    Cardiac dysfunction

    Sleep apnea

The need for a C-section and the risk of C-section complications, such as wound infections

Having a high BMI during pregnancy has been linked to an increased risk of various health problems for a baby, including:

    Birth defects

Being significantly larger than average (fetal macrosomia)

    Impaired growth

    Childhood asthma

    Childhood obesity

Obesity can interfere with fertility for some women.

If you have regular periods that follow a fairly predictable pattern, then your weight is probably NOT impacting your fertility.  There could be other fertility issues, but with obesity, irregular periods (which means irregular ovulation) is one of the common problems.

It can take the average couple up to a full year of trying before actually becoming pregnant.

There is really only about six to seven days during any cycle that pregnancy can happen.   Sperm can live for up to five days and wait for the egg.  But once ovulation happens, the egg only lives for twelve to twenty-four hours.

Many overweight women get pregnant and have healthy babies.  If you want to know if it is okay for YOU - then YOU should get a physical check-up with your doctor to make sure you don't have any health issues that could complicate a pregnancy.

Back in the Renaissance, most women were overweight or obese and they managed to have kids.

    The body will adapt.
