Why does my 7 year old son keep trying to hang upside down off his bunk bed?

I have asked this twice already but not many responded and I am wondering if this is safe for my son to do!

He keeps trying to dangle upside down by his knees of his bunk bed and I think this might be dangerous! He is mildly autistic and he says hanging upside down feels good! At the park he does this on bars and a few days ago he had a tantrum in the store so I took him to the car and gave him a swat (not hard) and he cried on the way home then at home he hung upside down on his bunk bed and he hung there for 5 minutes then he apologized and was very happy and a different child!

I would think being upside down would make your head hurt but he tells me it feels good and relaxing especially around his tummy and head! Is this normal? Since he has started hanging upside down his behaviour has improved tremendously!

Any kid that age is going to do what feels good to them. It is something he likes, so he wants it. Just let him alone.

    Probably because it's fun?

They all do it, both my son and his sons do it. The 12 year old does his homework on the floor hanging off his bed. I have a photo of it.

    Because he's 7- that's all.
