    Depending on context, either:

Curriculum Vitae, Constant Velocity (as in CV joint),

or a fragment of the formula 1/2 CV ^2 (energy stored in a capacitor).

Depending on context, I think of resume, assuming CV means curriculum vitae.

curriculum vitae (short history of your life).  vitae is the possessive form of the noun vita (life) in latin.  Curriculum means a running of a race, the course of your life, if you want a literal translation of curriculum vitae.  It is basically a fancy term for Resumé or in English Resume (itself from French and means summary).

Internationally, Curriculum Vitae, a list of jobs and educations you've had. You send it along when applying for a job

Here in the netherlands, it also means central heating - a system that pumps hot water through radiators in every room

Your CV is your Curriculum Vitae.

It's a list of all your qualifications, the schools/colleges/universities you went to, the jobs that you have already had and any other information that may of interest when you are applying for a job.
