Does "Open Carry" have any purpose in America anymore , other than to intimidate and threaten elected administrations ?
In recent years, groups of heavily armed people -- often in "camo" uniforms and wearing scarves around their faces -- have paraded around American city streets .
They have made the US look like a dystopian third world state . Is this the America ,Americans want to live in ?.
Not : To defend the "open carry" of "assault rifle style " weapons ,by groups of people ,often wearing combat gear, as simply a deterrent against criminality --- whilst they themselves are simply going about their everyday business --- is about as fatuous and ridiculous ,as it gets .
Such an excuse ,simply points to the neurotic psyche of people like yourself -- people who should never have been allowed to have a firearm in the first place .

Open is carry is standard carry. It is the opposite of secretly being armed. Secretly being armed is a crime because people feared a secret weapon is for nefarious activity; to sneak it to where it doesn't belong.
Obviously society progressed to the point of less need for personal protection equipment so regular carry became less common. Today's regression is causing record numbers of new gun owners and permits for concealed carry. Open carry is being skipped over because wack jobs freak out when they see a gun.
Open carry intimidation is a valueable tool. People tend to violate able people less than the unable. Concealed carry sets the stage for foolishly attempting to violate someone and then surprise death rather than making the choice to not violate that person because of the danger.
I prefer that people consider what I may do to protect myself rather than forcing me to do it. I'm the one who must live with the event, not the corpse.
The quest towards the third world dystopian does create a need for guns. The problem is your ability to recognize and contrast the cause and the symptoms.

Those of us who don't live in the USA like the fact that Americans have no 2nd amendment rights when they leave the USA.

DO NOT EVER give up your right to own a gun. Our forefathers knew what the "bear arms" meant, because it makes a very strong nation. Who are the "they" that you are speaking about? We have a few extremists groups in America that have tried to make American look like a Third World country, but we are not and if men will keep their heads we will get through this.

Compared to concealed carry, open carry essentially means you have the right to know who around you is armed and who is not. I’m more concerned about the people who conceal their firearms than those who make it clear they are armed.

If most blacks had the right to carry a legal firearm regardless of regional laws and even long past felonies......How many police shooting would there be? I wonder?
Look up the black panther party fit self defense who encouraged gun ownership, specifically to defend their communities from police avd to keep drugs out of their communities...Then look into the reason behind America’s FIRST gun Restriction laws which was targeted specifically to disarm the black panthers......
You look at this from one narrow perspective but just as easily as a gun can be used to attack, so too can it be used to defend against tyranny.....And frankly as killer mike says...Your gun restriction laws target blacks first and blacks the hardest. You intend to use such laws against gun toting trumpsters but in reality it will be used to put blacks in jail
