Why is the ps5 and xbox series x/s out off stock pretty much everywhere?

they underestimated demand.  i don't recall issues for original xbox one, and xbox one s / x having issues like this.  same for ps4 and ps4 pro.

maybe they thought those that had a ps4 pro or one x wouldn't upgrade since those already had 4k capability.  

They can't produce 20,000,000 units before putting them on the market.  They can only make them so fast.

Poor pre-order handling didn't help efforts.

And scalpers don't help, either, buying up the stock with bots before normal people can place their orders making the shortage seem even more short than it really is.

If there were a surplus of units, then retailers may feel empowered to demand 'deals' so that they could market the units at lower costs to their customers.  By creating an intentional market shortage, the companies ensure no retailer can create a stranglehold.

Just wait until December 26th and there will be a floor of the things.
