Fired on the first day for my job, is this okay?

So basically I’m 17 and I applied to work at staples and had my interview and my first day of work yesterday but I didn’t show up because I completely forgot I had work and I called in and told my boss and it was ok and the next day (today) I had work and I was with friends yesterday and was too tired to show up because we hung out and had a sleepover and stuff and my boss called me and told me my services are no longer required and let me go

I hope you learned something from this experience.  Your boss was very kind to give you a second chance.

Very fair to not give you a 3rd chance.

no but learn your lesson. When you work for others you are on their time not yours. Sound like you should start your own business!!

First rule of employment ANYwhere:  Get the job, SHOW UP.  You didn't. Is it okay? No. It's very bad. And you'll have a difficult time with any employer who sees that you did that.

It sounds like your boss is a real jerk. You only missed the first two days and you are already fired!? Some people are born without the ability to have an empathy.

About all you can do is look for another job. Fortunately, this kind of behavior by managers is few and far between. However, next time you may what to ask up front at the time of hiring if is it is any big deal if you forget you had a job and miss the first few days. It can't hurt to ask.

Well, I guess if you miss your first two days of employment, you will get fired. I can remember when I worked in a hospital laundry. I was there for 3 years. They hired a lot of people because no one liked it. It was HOT and the bosses were bitchy and didn't pay well. So nobody stayed long. But unskilled jobs were scarce. One day, a guy came to work there. He spent the morning in the restroom, then left and never came back. Later, the boss said the guy had sat down on some railroad tracks and never bothered to get up for the train.
