2012 bmw 7 series for $16k?

Although the engines in these things are like RACING WORKS OF ART< they are TROUBLE in the long run! I would NTO hesitate to buy a 3 series car with a regular STRAIGHT SIX or a TWIN TURBO one with more HP! The 7 series is ridiculously EXPENSIVE when new, and deteriorates QUICKLY! STAY AWAY from BMW 8 CYLINDERS! mY BROTHER had THE original x5 WITH THE 4.4 LITER v8! iT WAS A pain to fix AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN WENT BAD AT ABOUT 130,000 MILES! there IS no WARNING ABOUT THIS EITHER! the straight six IS BULLET PROOF AND LASTS longer AND IS CHEAPER TO REAPIR! i'VE DONE ABOUT dozen OF THEM! Get THE Audi a8 OR a8l INSTEAD. QUTTRO RULES and the A8 engine is EASIER to deal with!!! More LUXURY TOO even though they are SISTER cars using the same EURO suppliers.

A buddy of mine loves 7 Series. He keeps buying them. He said that they are the best driving cars he's ever owned. However, he gets rid of them around 70k miles because he told me that they tend to start having issues after that. This is a guy that's owned eight of them, so he knows from experience. Not only does he say that, but they never rate very well in reliability from what I've seen. These cars have a base price of around $100k when new. If you buy it, you will quickly understand why these cars lose so much value in 8 years, and it will burn a massive whole in your wallet.

If had the money to afford the maintenance, sure.

If you have a fat wallet, go for it.  It is NOT unusual to pay $500 for an oil change for this vehicle.  A shock strut replacement will be about $2000.  They have to program it with a scanner.  A complete tire change and brake change with run flat tires?  It will cost you a kidney.  A transmission change?  Send the car to the junkyard.
