When buying a used car in MA from a private party and it wont pass inspection, what is the max price it can be sold at?

Ok, good gosh darn deal. All set just fix a couple things. Thanks for the input people. 

First, the rust on the door is Cosmetic.  The hooker with the zits is still charging the same amount as her zitless friend.

That has NOTHING TO DO WITH PASSING INSPECTION.  The rust is custom work.

The tires is your problem...if you bought the vehicle.  The car does not come with GM tires.

Ebrake is a screwdriver or wrench adjustment...usually 10 minutes if you do it yourself.

So you ain't gonna get the truck for $1000.00  You are but one person who looked at it.   There are plenty more people that know a 13 y.o.used truck does not come with NEW TIRES.

They are not desperately needing to sell it to you.

There is no federal or state or locally mandated maximum price a vehicle can be sold for if it won't pass inspection. Very few classic vehicles will pass inspection but many of those vehicles have price tags on them in the 50s and 60 thousand-dollar range. Look at the Kelley blue book for the vehicle that you're looking to purchase and then work around that

No max, Zach.  The price can be whatever someone is willing to shell out for it.  No ceiling.

The car is worth what someone will pay for it.

I can't imagine people will pay very much for a 2006 GMC Envoy Denali w/ 210K miles that is a jalopy.
