Trump was the victim of aggression on the part of his broker. He (Trump) purchased "stock options" which were exempted under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
His broker, however, went on to purchase actual stock in the company - which was a violation.
Trump was advised by both his broker and ″the most respected lawyers in the business″ that a stock option purchase was exempt.
It was a civil judgment and he opted to pay the fine rather than drag everything out in litigation.
This was no federal crime - if it was, you can bet your Liberal backside that it would have been exposed long ago. No one convicted of a federal crime is eligible to run for President.
Thus, when the Swamp Rats are all put away for treason, the country will be 50% on its way to a full recovery.

Of the 19 impeachments by the House, two cases did not come to trial because the individuals had left office, seven were acquitted, and eight officials were convicted, all of whom were judges. ... To date, no president has been removed from office by impeachment and conviction.

That is a civil judgement, not a criminal conviction. --- and No, I do not like Trump.
