    A lot of "questionable" answers..... It is possible that you will have to pay taxes. As always, there are a lot of 'that depends'.

    If it's from a life insurance policy, no for the US. If it's from his estate, there is no Federal tax in the US, there may be a state inheritance tax. If you are not in the US or it's from another source, you'll need to provide details.
