The pillars of creation are in Local Group of the Virgo Supercluster. In fact they're right here within the Milky Way, some 7000LY away in the Eagle Nebula. A stunning sight.

It's sad to think that the formation probably no longer exists. The clouds may have already been destroyed by a local supernova scattering the dust and gas, but it's so far away the light of the event has not yet reached us. Time will tell on that one.

In our own. This nebula is inside our own galaxy, a mere 7000 light years away (our galaxy has a diameter over 100000 light years)

If you mean the Eagle Nebulae? NGC 6611 in the constellation Serpens.
