Battle of the guitars people love ?

Gibson SG Special vs Gibson SG Standard...do you think it's worth more to get the binding, inlays, and a 498 pup? Or save money and go basic? (If you hate SG's then I am not looking for that sort of input :))

Trying to help a friend decide..

Pickups can be swapped very easily, That should almost never be a deciding factor between guitars. The first thing I, or any professional musicians, do when having purchased a guitar is to have the frets levelled (AFAIK only pre-fender Jacksons ever came from the factory with a proper conical level) and pickups swapped for what I already know works for me- Lawrence 500xl and a Lace sensor gold.

Bound necks tend to be far more comfy to play.

The current Standard has a deeper edge contour on the body- more comfy.

I love SG's, but hate Gibson. Mine was custom made for me by luthier Matt Bush.

Gibson SG Standard with a Bigsby is straight up sexy.
