I used to have 7. Windows 8 is no different when it comes to running games.
Games that won't work on windows 7 won't work on windows 8 (Fallout 3 )
Some games will have a very slight FPS drop (not significant)
I would upgrade to windows 8 because it has some nice features and newer games will be start to work very well on it.
