Answer: New Mexico is an Open Carry State, meaning it is legal to carry a loaded weapon as long as it is not concealed. However, it is not legal to carry any firearm in any federal building or school. It is the responsibility of the person carrying the firearm to be informed as to when/where carrying is prohibited.

You are cool at 20 to carry in New Mexico openly but do need a permit to carry concealed. Law enforcement is well versed on the laws and any cop can tell you the answers to any questions you have.

The lovely wild west! Best check with local Police for carrying ordinances and restrictions but can tell you do NOT carry it anywhere near a school or daycare unless you want to see fireworks fly, forget Federal Buildings, the airports up to security point, but remember many gunslingers of old have died for doing this, so it may not be worth it to look for trouble and someone out here will be sure to give it to you which is why Concealed Carry is so much better
