Air Force Officer to Army Guard Infantry?

What would be involved for a 29y/o Air Force O3 who already served his term and got out of the Air Force (5 years of "Office Space" cubicle hell), joining the Army National Guard to be an infantry officer?

Enlisted Air Force would be required to go to Army BCT. Would an officer? What's involved with the advanced infantry school?

How would opportunities for Ranger school be from the Guard? Thanks for any insight!

    1. You would have to apply for a commission in the Guard...which shouldn't be a problem. You may or may not receive a Captain's commission but may have to start off as a 1LT...but no matter what you will not start lower than 1LT (and that is going to depend on what the current strength of O-3s are in the state and how your PME equates to Army PME)

    2. You will attend the Infantry Captain's Career Course (the new name for the Advanced course) to get branch qualified.

    3. You MAY be able to attend Ranger School depending on what position you are going into and whether or not it is coded for Ranger School Example..if you go to a Guard Light Infantry unit you will most likely be able to swing Ranger School. If you go Mechanized..probably not.

    4. You need to talk to the OSM (Officer Recruiter) of the state you are looking at joining the Guard in. That is who will process your packet. Email me the state and I can get the exact person you need to talk to.
