Do they still have public phones in Britain?

Y'know those telephones in public places that you can use if you put a coin in them?

The phone company in America removed them so people will be forced to get a cell phone.

Update:

People who don't have cell phones need to use a public phone now and then.

In America if you are too poor to get a cell phone you are considered to be a kind of sub-human. So they don't care if you need to call someone.

Yes they have public phones in Britain many still in a red phone box. The phone companies in America removed them because people stopped using them. They did not force people to buy cell phones.

Not really. They took away the kiosks, and now hide them among other street furniture like municipal art, recycling bins, advertisement columns and electricity company boxes. They are complicated devices which may or may not accept one or another type of card, or note or coin, but only one of those, and these are distributed at random. They are out of order anyway.

Yes there are a few of these phones. By Law there has to be one phone in so many square miles, this is in case of emergency. But rather you than me pick up one of those phones and put it near your mouth. One man who inspected the phones and tested to see what germs were on them found germs normally found in human excrement. Rather you than me.
