So i got a job.. What's next?

Last night I received an email from the store that I had an interview with saying that I was hired. What do I do next? The email did not really give any instruction besides saying that I would fill out paperwork on my first day. How do I find out my first day? Should I walk in tomorrow because that's when I said that I would be available to work on the application? It said it would be 11/7, but that was yesterday when I got the email..

And it says to bring something that proves my eligibility to work in the US. I'm a citizen, but does this mean like my driver's liscense or a birth certificate?

    Congratulations!!!

I would phone them and ask when they want you to come in for your first day as you are available immediately.

They need information for your employment file so I would perhaps have my birth certificate with me but most important would be to have your social insurance number. that would mean you are eligible for working in the USA.

It would not surprise me hearing that question, that you were sent a form email advising you of the job offer. As much as we like email it can be ignored for a time....PHONE them up and ask the HR people (or manager if they don't have HR) when you should come in and exactly what info they require.

The type of ID you need is listed on the last page of the Citizenship and Immigration Service form I-9, linked below. There are several choices. Make sure you bring documents that were produced by an official source, not something you copied yourself. Also, if you use a birth certificate to prove your eligibility to work in the US, make sure it is not a hospital birth certificate, but rather issued by some branch of government, like a state, county, or town.

Sounds like you need to email or call them and ask them when to show up. I never had an employer ask for my birth certificate, but you never know. If you have it, take it with you.

The only people who know your start day is your future employer. In your email when you reply ask these questions.

Call the place asking when you need to be there. You should already know the attire, but if not, go ahead and ask. Yes, bring your Social Security card (they need it for tax form), and you should always have your license. Ask what else they need.
