WMP 12 No Vocals/Screwy Music?

I am using windows media player version 12, and it plays just fine without headphones. Sounds like normal music. But whenever I put ANY type of headphones (theres three in the house), it plays the music like theres an echo, you cant hardly hear the lead singer or any vocals (depends on which song im listening to), and ive checked all the sound settings in the computer and even went through the trouble of finding the sound card and checking if there was anything wrong with it.. which there wasnt.

Does anyone have any advice, suggestions or comments???

Be much appreciated.

My guess is that you have your audio set up for 5.1 surround. In a 5.1 surround, all vocals go through the center speaker, which is nonexistent in a basic PC speaker and headphone configuration.

Right click the speaker icon in the taskbar, and select Playback Devices. Then, select your speakers and headphones and click the "Configure" button to set it to stereo, not 5.1 surround.
