Is it better to be the owner of a lonely heart or the owner of a broken heart?

The band called Yes sang a song in the 80's that included these lyrics and I'm wondering if what they put forth is true or not. I guess I'd need details to convince me and not just merely have this turn into a poll where more people just respond with either, 'Yes it is' or 'No it is not'

There is a saying, it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I don't think I agree with it. If the one that you loved broke your heart, then there is no hope. Lonely hearts always have hope because you never know when you will meet that person. There is always the hope that they will come along one day.

It's better to be the owner of a broken heart.

Alfred Lord Tennyson got it in one: 'It is better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all.'
