Write a short letter to the manager. Be direct and say what behavior you saw from your server and that is why you will not be returning as a customer anymore. The manager knows you are going to tell all your friends about this and that hurts business. Don't use any mean language. Write it with language that an old grandma would write it.

I agree. Do not leave a tip if the service is bad.

A few years ago a member of our family always had breakfast at a local diner on Saturday mornings. He would leave the change he had in his pockets as a tip. Sometimes it would not be a good tip. This is the same as saying to the waitress that the service was not good. After awhile this waitress refused to wait on him. Could it be that no one left a tip the last time you all ate there? This could have been the reason for her rudeness. Do your best to leave 10% or 15% of the bill as a tip.

A tiny tip (5% or so) sends an even stronger message than no tip at all.

If you really want to get her in trouble, call the owner. But if it's a family place, chances are she's somebody's relative and un-fireable. Maybe they'll give her a talking-to, however.

Give her a penny as her tip.

And leave a post-it note that says:

1/3 of this penny is YOUR tip.

Don't leave her a tip. She doesn't deserve one. Call the manager when you get home and tell him what you told us.

    -Don't leave a tip

-Call the store and ask for the manager to file a complaint.
