Does RAM version matter?

If you have the same model of RAM but different version would it be compatible?

Update:

Okay, what i meant is that i have two ddr3 RAM and the model of the sticks (CMX~~~~) are the same on but on one of them it also says ver 2.3 and on the other 9.1.

Update 2:

Okay, what i meant is that i have two ddr3 RAM and the model of the sticks (CMX~~~~) are the same on but on one of them it also says ver 2.3 and on the other 9.1.

Everything about them is the same except for the version number

I don't fully understand the question: What do you mean by RAM 'version'.

do you mean like DDR, DDR2, DDR3

for instance: DDR2 RAM doesn't fit in a DDR3 slot

different sizes of RAM can be used together in one computer, e.g. 512MB + 1024MB

different brands may also work together, but that's not always the case

you may desire to verify with them, yet methink Dell basically supply the 32 bit version of Vista with their laptops & wanting 4Gbs ram seems such as you decide on the 64bit version as a replace.. in case you employ the 32bit version you basically have 3.5Gb attainable, and could in simple terms get 3Gb, to save some money. additionally, you dont easily could desire to apply Vista terrific. there are a great type of freeware addons that make up the distinction utilising in simple terms the residing house top rate.
