dance team tryouts this week! ?

so im trying out for the dance team at my school and im thinking up ways to help me get ready for the clinic and try out day. ive taken lessons for about 8 years but it was pretty laid back, so im worried if that would really affect me. so im asking for help with some stretches and what i should be eating this week.

Some stretches and exercises should be aimed towards kick liness and straddle jumps. splits would be helpful too but idon'tt think they are required for tryouts. im about positivekick liness and straddle jumps are though.

Also, anything in general that can help me with the tryouts :) I have never done any serious tryouts before, except for talent shows (all of which ive made)

so please help and thanks for those that help!

Update:

i dont really have anything to practice (except for the kickline) because you learn the routine at the clinic

Update 2:

oh yeah! i have gym now and of course on the days of clinic and tryouts, were starting swimming, and i dont really have time to go home and do makeup and such, so any quick things for appearance?

If you've taken dance for 8 years, I'm sure you will make it. :)

Make sure you work on your flexibility. Do these stretches: Straddle, Runner, Splits etc. Also try Catch-holds to work on your kicks. Make sure to work on your leaps and turns and kicks before tryouts. Just play some of your favorite songs, and dance to them to get you pumped up and excited! :D

And I don't know what 'clinic' is, but I'm assuming that is the time you learn the dance/routine. If it is on a different day then tryouts, make sure you practice practice practice the routine, and ask for the cut of the music.

If the tryouts aren't RIGHT after school, you can go into a bathroom at school, and do your makeup, and since at tryouts, you will have to have your hair up, just brush it into a neat ponytail or bun.

PRACTICE! OK dont strain yourself. I have been dancing scince i was 7 im 13 now. Eat healthy such as fruit vegetables lots of water because if you get dehidrated your body will drain! drink juice but not from concentrate all the real fruit. good luck hope you get in but keep these things up once you join. and stretch every day if you have a bar or somethin high up put your leg up on it heel facing forward back straight toes pointed and bend and streach for a while and do the same amount with both legs thoes are good split streches xxxx
