Whats wrong with my hard drive?
This is my 2nd HDD which i only use for data storage and its been working for 3 years now and this problem just recently popped up. The problem i'm experiencing is that the hard drive shows up in my pc but when i open it nothing shows up. Its just loading and when i try to do an error checking or defrag they just freeze.

It sounds as if your hd has broken down.8-((
Also check the power supply and the data cable connections just in case they are loose or faulty.

Bad hard drive. 3 years sounds about the right time for it to fail if you use it enough. You *may* be able to retrieve your data if you hit the hard drive once after unplugging it and reattaching it. Keep trying that until you can access the data on it. Don't expect it to last long though, it's just a temporary fix to retrieve your data.

Arnak has it. It's acting like it has died. Like he said, check the connections, reboot the computer just to be sure. If those do not correct the condition, you likely have a dead drive.
