Audi 2.7T engine differences. ATTN: Audi engineers or techs?

Question

Why does the 2004 A6 S-line (2.7T) have better fuel mileage ratings than the 2001 Allroad with the same engine??? S_line says 25 MPG, Allroad says 21 MPG???? Aren't they the same engine?!?!?!

When it comes to MPG keep in mind this is an estimate and there are many factors that come in to play as far as the rating is concerned. The engines fuel consumption at idle may be identical. Moving the vehicles are a different story. Trying to push a wagon that weighs more is going to require more power which in turn requires more fuel. At higher speeds where drag is an issue, the same instance occurs.

Same engine different weights.The Allroad weights more than the A6.

its a different car, different weights, different fuel mileage etc....

actually car weight and aerodynamics make a bigger role in the fuel mileage then the engine does...
