How much is the extra cost per month if you have a pool at your home?

A friend of mine is getting a home with a pool(rental) and I'm wondering would there be some huge bill that she's not expecting.

    I have a 34,000 gallon pool, kind of large. Electricity is about 38 a month, figure 1 bottle of muratic acid a week 3x 4 = 12

depends how you add chlorine, mine makes it with salt so free, others chlorine about 12 month if sunny and pool used. If you have an algae problem, figure about 15 for a bottle of algae killer. so my math says, about 62 - 77 month. Now, it may be a smaller pool, you don't give us details, could be an above ground, then these numbers would be a lot less. You will also spend about 15 minutes a week messing with it. I hope this helps you

depends on the size, the climate, and how much time you have to maintain it. You have to heat them, and keep the water treated and clean. Anywhere from $50 to $100. Might be easier to just have a pool service stop by and do it once a week. If you don't use it be sure to drain it so it doesn't end up a mosquito pond.

Good pool service starts at $75/month and for someone unfamiliar with proper maintenance would be a good bet.

Electricity for the pump is about $30 month and chemicals are about 10-20 depending on how low the chlorine gets. If you let things get out of hand you can spend way more!

    You're welcome!!
