Why do human beings continue to consume meat when God has given us so many fruits and vegetables ?

Ditto to all of the above.

The way that the animals are killed and cut up is wrong but humans were made to eat them. But not just as food to waste but to use the skin and bones and fat. Humans have become wasteful and that's changed how we view animals.

  • First off, we were built OMNIVORES. WE WERE BUILT TO EAT PLANTS AND ANIMALS. If we choose though, or if animals or unavailable, it is possible to live without meat as a vegetarian or even a vegan. The taste of meat is generally liked assuming that they can bear the idea of eating an animal and don't think about it too much. Meat is essential to acheive certain proteins and such, but I suppose it can be substituted with the right diet. Keep in mind though: THERE MUST BE DEATH FOR THERE TO BE LIFE. Animals must die for carnivores to live. Plants must die for herbivores to live. If they don't die, then you take away the life potential out of something (as in you eating a fruit keeps that from becoming a tree). It's not exactly a happy truth, but it's simply the truth. Animals don't deserve to suffer how they do so some person can have some meat to go with their veggies. But it happens. Before I would go telling everybody to eat veggies though, I would work on making the conditions for those animals better and making sure they die happy and humanely.

Also keep in mind that not all omnivores think nothing of eating meat. I feel horrible most of the time when I eat meat. But as far as I know, there are no meat substitutes in my area (small town) and I couldn't eat a healthy or happy enough diet to exclude meat from my diet at this point. My parents also don't care being full omnivores and haven't ever made a vegetarian dish, which would leave me with the cooking (which I'm obviously not too good at). I can cook spaghetti marinara though and eat that sometimes. Once I move out, I plan on being a vegetarian. I simply can't do that right now, though. All I can do is reduce how much I eat and try to become a little less of a omnivore everyday.

One last thing...I'm assuming you are a vegetarian, vegan, or think that it is horrible that we eat animals. Well, let me just put it this way: Omnivores don't keep you from living your lifestyle, don't keep them from living theirs. If you want to, simply present them with the facts and tell them to think about it. Don't pester them, just let them make their lifestyle choice as you have made yours.

    Have a good day.

    because we can.

    it tastes great

its full of protein, you know, that stuff you veggie eaters have to take pills to get enough of.

if we were meant to live on fruits and veggies alone we would have been born with big flat teeth like a cow or a horse. but we have canines and teeth built for chewing and tearing.

we arent at the top of the food chain because we eat fruits and veggies.

there are so many reasons.....why on earth someone would want to live on rabbit food is beyond me when you can eat the rabbit lol.

I would like to see you tell a hungry lion to go eat a carrot, hed have you for dinner, so it all evens out in the end.

Source(s): we butcher our own meat, we kill a beef and a couple hogs every fall to put us through to the next season, plus my husband hunts so we always have deer and such in the freezer... store meat is the next thing to poison in my opinion with all its hormones and crap they pump in it, not that i dont buy the occasional chicken off the shelf, but we dont make it our main diet.

I could ask, why has God put so many fruits and vegetables on earth when there is so much meat?

I am just as taken in by the sweet faces of animals as you are...BUT think about the unparalled cruelty it would be if we allowed animals to Populate out-of-control...they would begin starving due to the lack of food... as we humans would be consuming all the VEGETATION (since we are NOT eating them...the animals)... on top of them starving they would begin spreading Disease due to the over-population of animals on the planet....there is a reason God allowed us to consume animals.Think about it!

Source(s): We as humans have to use common sense in this matter...we cannot just go on emotion. We were placed higher on the food chain for a reason...we were given a REASONING brain and are expected to use it.

    poor excuse,..

you seem to miss,, that God gave man canines and incisors as well as molars

and for 10,000,000 years we eat meat..

look at the natural history of man,, not the insane civilized radicals like Peta and vegetarian & vegan movements of twisted facts..

Even all the holy hollies, (Religion), also say God gave the animals for humans to husband and honor,,,

Then,, even Jesus followed Jewish law on food.

    try another approach..

Two bumper stickers I have seen recently pretty much sum it up for me:

    1) Meat is murder. Delicious, delicious murder.

    2) I love animals. Especially when they're deep-fried.

On Thanksgiving people would rather enjoy a delicious juicy turkey instead of some dry nut loaf. lol
