Gas cans are specially designed to resist breaking when near heat (even the plastic kind).

If you decide to use anything other than a real gas can, make sure you use it and immediately empty it out. If you store gas in container other than real gas can, you are asking for big fires sooner or later.

    Good Luck...

P.S. Most gas stations are NOT allowed to sell you gas in anything other than real gas can (plast gas can allowed - of course).

Where I live someone managed to make it illegal to put gas into something other than a certified gas container. You could put it into anything you really want as long as you aren't going that far with it. If you use a plastic bottle check the bottom and see what number is on the bottom. if it's a 1 you will probably not want to use it as those type aren't designed to contain liquid for a long period of time. They usually put milk in those because the milk wouldn't be in there for a while.

a drainable fuel tank. petrol resistant containers are rare, and anything used to hold food is banned.
