Does the RAM sticks have to be the same?

question: slot 1 and slot 2 have 1gb ram sticks while slot 3 and slot 4 have 2gb would that be okay? i dont really have 6 gb of ram its just a question

    Amount of memory in each stick does not matter, just the speed of the stick, do not mix ddr-333 with ddr-266 etc., etc.

    thats fine, as long as the clock speed are the same, if not the pc will either not boot at all or boot reconizing only the correct speed memory.

    yes it would work, but all for stick have to be the same speed

    333,400,500,533,800 Mhz if not they will make your computer slower
