If you believe that Obama is a great American?

Please explain in what way (be specific). Please do not answer "because he is".

Update:

Not why he is not...Why you feel he is.

I am giving an opportunity here to Obama followers. Just as I did for Clinton, and McCain in my other questions.

By NOT answering the question the right way, shows ones ignorance, and hurts your candidate.

Update 2:

nicky...I personally don't agree with you, BUT I appreciate you actually answered the question the right way.

I believe that he is a great American for very much the same reason I believe that GW Bush is a great American, or John Kerry, or Colin Powell, or Rumsfeld or Howard Dean, or...any of the many different citizens of our nation who make a conscious decision to serve in the public sector.

Each of these individuals had a bright future and could have entered the corporate world and made millions...literally. Yet they rolled the dice on the public sector.

Regardless of their politics, this is a selfless act.

I want to believe that each of them made this decision because they felt that they could do something to improve the lives of others...

There is nothing more commendable than that.

I don't have an answer to your question but I feel the need to add something after an individual wrote on here as to justifying a politician and the " first ever to charm ". This is very false.

RFK was the first, not Obama and I highly suggest getting a copy of the 40th Anniversary Edition of Time Magazine- 1968, which came out yesterday. It's 12 bucks and worth every penny. I wish people who are sincerely interested in the history of our country and who ran what and why and how and the relevance to repeating itself in 2008. This is important information that is being neglected on MSM.

    Thank you.

Because he recognizes that lobbyists and special interests have been controlling Washington for too long and he's the only one with the balls to say it despite the fact that it could ruin him politically. He is the first politician to come along in decades that has charisma and the power to motivate the American people to make important changes to the system that will benefit everyone. All these morons that say he criticizes America too much don't realize that it is done for the love of his country - knowing that it is great but could be so much better.....We all know that's true - the system has been broken for too long and big corporations have the rule of the day. Obama is a great American because he is willing to take that on - all of us should be behind him.

I cannot say that BO is a great American, though admittedly, he may be some version of a great man because he has used every asset available to him in rising to his current stature - right or, wrong, Ma'am.

I don't think he's a GREAT American...no reason to think that. I do think he is a good American - I won't vote for him, I don't believe in his beliefs - however I must say that what makes him a good American is wanting to get involved. Every good American gets involved with something and he choose to run for President.
