Bonding companies will guarantee to pay for anything that you steal or embezzle. So, the bonding company will check to see if you have any criminal history.

Many employers obtain bonds from the aspiring candidates, who are seeking jobs that they will continue in their service for a stipulated period of time.If the employee jumps the bond and leaves the employment before expiry of the period, he is legally bound to pay compensation to the employer. This amount is also mentioned in the bond.
