Access US Wii shop in Europe (Germany)?

I'm staying with a friend in the US Military stationed in Germany. He has a US version Wii, and also uses AOL DSL to access the internet. Because you have to log in to AOL from each machine to access the internet, we're using a proxy server on one of the machines, which enables the Wii to go online using that computer's internet connection (can't figure out a way to log the Wii in directly to the aol connection).

Although we can get it online, we can access all channels EXCEPT the Wii Shop Channel, and we'd really like to be able to purchase some old school games. Nintendo support was not able to resolve the issue, telling us that the shop was region encoded, and that's probably why we can't access the shop.

Any ideas on how we can get the Wii shop to work using this configuration? I'm assuming the Wii shop checks your IP address to ensure you are in the right region, but don't know if there's a way to spoof it, or somehow fool it into thinking we are in the US.

Thanks much!

If the US was not involved in the Pacific theatre either, leaving the Japanese complete mastery of the Allied Asian colonies and possibly able to attack the Soviets, then Russia would have been completely defeated by the Axis. If Japan and the US were removed from the global equation then it would be safe to say that Britain would have been starved out of the war at some point anyway, leaving Germany to continue its war in the East in a dominant position. Russia would have not been able to launch the offensive operations it did as when America was in the war. Russia would most likely have been forced to accept the boundaries it currently has now though minus access to the Baltic and Black seas. WW2 was won and lost by the Nazis in Russia. Much like in WW1, the question was can Germany win outright before the American support could come into play. Since they were very close even with America in the war, without it, the Soviets would have fallen. The result would have been a German dominated Europe with independent countries west of the Rhine, satellites in the Balkans, and colonial status for everything East of German speaking borders.
