i recently bought edifier s550 speakers in hopes of getting surround sound on my pc.

the problem is i'm not getting sound in all speakers when i play a song/watch a movie.

my audio inputs are the same as this computer: http://www.bcot1.com/thecomputer.html

when i plug the dark blue into black and yellow into orange and run the speaker test with a 5.1 speaker configuration, i get sound in all speakers. but when i play a song it only comes out the front speakers.

what am i missing!?!?!? thanks!

what am i doing wrong?!!?!?

i splurged on a 5.1 sound system (edifer s550) with hopes of listening to my music in surround sound. but i can't seem to get sound in all speakers - i can only get sound in one set at a time (i.e only the center speaker, only the two front speakers, or only the surround sound speakers.)

here are my computer's spec (i admit i know little about computers....)

when i use an hdmi cable to go from my video card (radeon hd 6870) to my monitor (acer h274hl) a black frame surrounds my screen that causes me to loss about 2" on each side.

when i use a dvi output it works beautifully, but i was hoping to reserve that for a second monitor.

I've gone into the display settings and checked the resolution - won't let me go past 1920x1080 (the recommended setting) and all my video card driver is up-to-date.

i know this is possible because i was able to do this in linux mint a couple days ago (i recently switched to windows 7 64-bit professional)

any suggestions??? thanks!

i'm new to linux. which do you recommend - the comice os4 or the mint 12?

my friend just built me a really nice computer and he's left me to install the operating system. i'm thinking i'm gonna switch from a pc and try out linux (specifically mint 12 - feel free to offer other suggestions for a linux newbie)

i don't have access to a dvd burner so i can't burn linux on to a disc and boot it up that way.

so, am i able to do this with a thumb drive / external harddrive? and if so, what steps do i take to have the computer boot from the thumb / external drive?? thanks!

hey, i'm looking to upgrade my worn out netbook computer. it'd use it mostly for downloading, music, tv shows, and internet browsing. price isn't an option and desktop is probably the best way to go since i'd like to have atleast a 2tb harddrive. any suggestions? thanks.

say there's a man at second and third base and you want to load the bases to force the out. are you allowed to position your first baseman behind home plate during the intentional walk to prevent the other team from scoring should there be a wild pitch? or is there some sort of rule that a player must be within fair territory? thanks.

i was wondering how to (if possible) set up an excel chart so it automatically updates when adding a new row of data.

for example, say column A was:

jan-1-2000

jan-8-2000

jan-15-2000

and column B was

$100

$150

$75

and i've made a chart of the above data. now i want to add the new row jan-22-2000 | $120. is there a way to set this up so excel will automatically add this new data into my chart?? i know it can be done by simply copying and pasting...but i don't want to have to do that each time i add raw data. thanks for your help.

i'm trying to make an excel graph that displays the date on the x axis and the time i ran for on the y axis.

but when i go to graph it, it doesn't display any of the data points. i've tried formatting the y axis to the hh:mm:ss format but that didn't do anything. any suggestions???

i'm trying to make an excel program for mlb standings that'll AUTOMATICALLY rank the rows by winning percentage. to clarify, if i currently have:

team~~~~~ win~~~~loses~~~~ win %

blue jays~~~1~~~~~~~1~~~~~~0.5

red sox~~~~1~~~~~~~2~~~~~~0.3333

and say the sox beat the jays in the next game. then when i adjust the jays losses to 2 and sox wins to 2, the table would automatically sort. i.e. the output will be:

team~~~~~ win~~~~loses~~~~ win %

red sox~~~~2~~~~~~~2~~~~~~0.5

blue jay~~~~1~~~~~~~2~~~~~~0.3333
