  • Teach my dog to sit straight.?

My dog sits but sometimes crooked with both legs off to one side. should i just not reward, and keep moving back and telling him to sit - only rewarding when it is straight?

2nd part- when i tell him to lay down, it is hard to get him back to sitting position by saying sit. I have to hold the treat over his head and say sit to get him back up. Should i use a different command to get him back to sit from down? thanks!

  • Best organization of tons of clothing and gear (Cold weather, desert, sports, casual, dress)?

I am very logical and smart but also messy. The question sounds simple, but is complex (the experienced understand this). I am a grad student living in El Paso 30-120F annually. I work in N. Alaska, outside all day - COLD and wet.

    Summary:

Cold Gear:Down jackets, fleece, wicking underwear, thick socks, etc.

    Wet Gear: Goretex pants/jackets

Desert field gear: old pants/shirts, thin shirts, light wicking clothing

Sports/Workout: Boardshorts, regular shorts, tshirts, wicking shirts/tights.

    Casual: t-shirts, shorts, jeans, etc.

    Dress: the usual.

I dress casual(scummy) usually when warm, nicer when cold/ or for meeting/presentation.

Some (eg.Goretex), are obvious. My problem is the universal clothes like t-shirts, shorts, wicking underwear stuff, fleece, lots of socks.

Is it best to organize by category (socks, tshirts, underwear, jackets), use (cold, desert, workout, dress), or use frequency(most worn, least worn)?

I do a bit of all 3 and end up screwy. Looking for optimal efficiecy

  • Teaching Dog to Heel (Right or Left Side)?

All the online guides on how to teach a dog to heel always instruct you to.. step forward with the left leg... etc etc. Is there a reason they use left side? Is this just a coincidence, or do dogs like the left side better? Or does this have something to do with dog pack dynamics?
