  • How do I figure out bolt material needed?

I have 2 cylinders that slide one inside the other. I have 4 holes drilled around circumference tapped @ 3/8-16

These bolts hold the parts together to prevent sliding. However, I want the bolts to purposely shear at 40,000 lbs.

If I knew tensile strength, would I multiply by 4? Or maybe 40k divided by a particular tensile #?

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Why is computer still slow after adding RAM?

    I have Dell Precision M6600 laptop(workstation). Intel Core i7 2720 CPU@ 2.20 GHZ

I recently bumped up the RAM from 8GB to 24GB with the hopes it would help run my graphics and engineering software better.

However, I really see no difference in performance/speed etc. The RAM appears to have installed correctly since the Control Panel acknowledges the 24 GB of Ram. Any help?

  • Dog having seizures again?

I have a 2 year old female Huskey. About a year ago she began to have seizures. Maybe 1 or 2 a month. Our vet did some tests but did not come up with any specific cause. She gave us some anti seizure medication in case they became more severe. Also suggested we change diet to better type of hollistic dog food. We changed her food and she had been seizure free (at least no indications of any) for over 6 months. Last night she had 3 episodes about 3 hours apart. Seizures last for about 30 sec to 1 min and she seems to recover within 10 min. I gave her some of the medication. Medication seems to make her edgy and restless. So its hard to tell if it has any effect.

Racking my brain as to what is causing them! We live in a wooded area near Houston but dont think it is anything in the yard since she went all summer seizure free. She did get a hold of a bag of potatoes she stole from the pantry. But that was a week ago. Any thoughts suggestions?

  • Husky just had 1st sezure and we dont know why?

My female husky is about 18months old. We were playing a bit, mostly where she trys to bite my hands and a bit of tug o war with my fingers. About 5 min after stopping, she layed on the floor and started convulsing and urinated. The sezure only lasted about 3 min and she seemed dazed and dissoriented for about 10 min afterwards. Not sure what happened. She is a very energetic dog. One suspect is that I had eaten an orange just before we played. I may have dropped a small peel on hte floor and my hands had some remnants of oranges on them. Could this have been a reaction to the orange? Very disturbing!

    of hole 2.

Which of the following statements is correct?

    1. The water speed out of hole 1 is equal to

the water speed out of hole 2, while the mass

flow rate is twice that of hole 2.

    2. The water speed out of hole 1 is equal to

that of the water speed out of hole 2, while

the mass flow rate is four times that of hole 2.

    3. The water speed out of hole 1 is twice

that of the water speed out of hole 2, while

the mass flow rate is twice that of hole 2.

    4. The water speed out of hole 1 is equal to

the water speed out of hole 2, as is the mass

flow rate out of hole 2.
