  • Just moved to NH, confused on where to get my license transfered.?

I recently moved to NH and am in need of getting my license transfered to a NH one. One website says I need to go to Concord, another says I can do it right here in Manchester. Has anyone else recently done this? And if so, where did you go and where you turned away at the sub-offices?

  • Will my computer support a 64-bit OS.?

I've been out of the hardware business for about a year or two and just upgraded my computer. I'm curious if it'll work with a 64-bit OS. Here are the specs:

    Athlon II X2 250

    C770-45C motherboard

    1 stick of 2gigs of DDR3

    PNY 9800GT EE

    MSI Wireless Lan adapter (PCI)

    1 DVD/CD+RW Combo drive

Currently using Windows XP 32bit, but want to know if installing Windows 7 64-bit will increase some sort of performance....or even work.

  • Computer no-posts with new power supply and new motherboard.?

About a week ago we had a power surge and after that my computer wouldn't turn on (no fans, no fan self-test, no post). Tried a known good power supply and still no good. However I was still getting a stand-by light on the motherboard so I tried a new outlet and same thing. So I went ahead and replaced the motherboard, figuring the motherboard got fried from the surge (even though there was no physical evidence on the board itself).

Got the new motherboard in, put on cardboard and plugged in the old powersupply (nothing else plugged in...just motherboard and PSU). Still no startup. I've read that some motherboards won't even start without the CPU installed, so I installed the new motherboard in the case and plugged in the CPU+Heatsink/fan. Tried again and nothing (I've tried the switch and manually shorting the power-on pins with a screw driver). Got around to trying it with the known good PSU before buying a completely knew one just in case. Nothing. Took out the CPU again and still nothing.

It's possible the motherboard is DOA but with no physical damage it seems unlikely. Also note it gives me the standby light as well.

    Any suggestions?

    Specs:

    Pentium 4 3.6ghz with HT

    Intel 915GAG motherboard

2 gigs of DDR Memory (4x512)

Also note, I don't have the cash to upgrade or I would have just built a completely new system from the get go.

  • Side post to Top post car battery adapter will not stay tight.?

I recently had to cut and replace my old battery cable. I bought an adapter for my side post battery to convert into a top post terminal because side post cables/terminals are a pain to find nowadays unless you go online/pay for shipping etc. However, I can only seem to get it hand tight. The material used on the prongs on the side (I'm assuming so you can tighten it) bend and almost break at and any force greater then my hands.

I could use vice grips to wrap around the post and tighten it that way, but if the material is the same, it should just dig in and tear. Right now I can wiggle it rather easily inside of the socket. Is there any good way to tighten it down without losing contact area? Or is a little bit wiggle room fine?

  • Reverse random number algorithm?

Does anyone know of a program that is free online, that can look/analyze a series of supposedly "random numbers" and try to find an alogrithm that fits? As we all know, no numbers created by a computer are truely "random".

  • What is the best way to unscrew stripped screws from a car battery?

What is the best way to unscrew stripped screws from a car battery?

I was trying to disconnect my battery, when the rust on the screw started to strip. Its not completely stripped yet, but I would like to have a chance of getting it off without ruining it. Does anyone have any tips on what the best way to do this is? Without buying the special "gatorgrip" tool?
