  • Is Ashton-Under-Lyne (and Tameside) generally a nice or deprived area to live in or not?

Is Ashton-Under-Lyne a nice area? Last time I went it looked pretty rough and deprived and full of chavs (Not as bad as parts of Salford, Moss Side and other inner-city area, but still looks pretty rough), but I have only visited part of it and I heard by someone who lives there that it is quite a nice area and that the area (or the area surrounding it (Tameside)? is charming and is a historical town in Manchester). Is it all rough and deprived and is the rest of Tameside/Ashton Under Lyne) historical, nice and charming? Can somebody please provide me with an insight to the area of Tameside and Ashton-Under-Lyne who lives in the Manchester area or in the borough of Tameside.

    Please reply ASAP,

    Thankyou.

  • Opinions on different UK Cities?

What are your opinions on different UK Cities: Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Brighton? My friend has got to choose to live in any 1 of these UK Cities of his choice because of his job move. His criteria is:

Which city out of these is friendliest?

Which city out of these has the lowest poverty/unemployment rates?

Which city out of these has the lowest crime rate (safest)?

Which city has the best transport links (metro/tram link, bus etc.)?

Which city is the best size? (i.e. not too big, crowded, congested, but not too small, isolated, boring?)

Which city has the best rail links to London (In order to visit relatives, not necessarily closest to London though)?

Which city has the most green spaces?

Which city is most interesting (in terms of things to do in the city, places to visit, attractions in the city)?

Which city is the most affordable (not too expensive, but still a nice city in terms of living)?

If possible, I would like a brief description of each city, but only if you know any of these cities very well or live/have lived in any of these cities. Which city best fits in with all of the criteria above? My friend is also Indian, so which city has the greatest multicultural feel to it with the most Indian/South Asian people (Shopping, Indian restaurants, Hindu temples and other places of worship etc.)

  • Why are Londoners generally so rude, rowdy and unfriendly?

I know that it is a fast paced, over-crowded city where everybody is always in a rush with the hustle and bustle, but why do many Londoners not even say "excuse me" when they barge into you accidentally. Why do most Londoners talk so fast and are so unfriendly to tourists? Whenever I am in the London Underground, people never (to what I have seen) give up their seat to an elderly/fragile person who are most desperately at need. Why do they always either have their head to their newspaper, IPod or phone and never even have the courtesy to smile at anybody; instead they just look in the other direction. I am not saying that everybody is like this - I did say "generally", but why is this the case in London? Whenever a tourist or anybody asks for directions, they simply shrug their shoulders saying that they either don't know or they don't have the time. Why is this so?

No rude or inappropriate answers please,
