Leaving behind my disabled child while I take my other children on holiday ........?

Hello, I have 4 kids, one of which is disabled, 2 years ago (before lockdown) we went onto a family holiday. My disabled child who at the time was 2, didn’t take to it very well. He has major learning disabilities and sever autism. He hated flying, he hated riding on the transfer bus, he hated the hotel and the bedroom and the Spanish tv, at the time he was not diagnosed with autism or the sever learning developmental delay. We were going through many tests and didn’t know what was wrong but at that point there was still hope he would outgrow what ever it was. Now it’s been made clear he won’t. So basically the holiday was not really a holiday. One of us had to stay with my disabled child at all times in the hotel room. He was scared of the outdoor area, play park and pools. He didn’t like the noises or the amount of people. This really spoilt things for my other kids. This year my husband suggested we leave our child behind at his grandmas, his grandmas was more than happy and said that was a great idea and could she do the same and take all the kids on holiday without this one child.... I’m torn. It feels wrong to look at holidays and to imagine my kids having the most amazing time without their brother. But at the same time they deserve a family holiday that they can enjoy. I don’t know what to do or what feels right anymore I’m so depressed after the diagnosis and knowing he won’t get better.

Did anyone go through this in life? What is wrong and what is right?

How often are pull out special education programs on average?

    Favourite answer:

varies widely from school district to district.  some have strict policy of near zero pull out programs, others love them and use at every opportunity [no matter what PL 94-142 says about 'mainstreaming']

    2 kids with non-verbal Autism?

Do you know the steps I should take to prepare for my children's future when I am deceased?  I could die tomorrow and I need to prepare NOW to make sure they are in good hands.  Some people are saying to start a trust fund, but apparently it's different for people with special needs.  A trust fund is one of many.  I'm clueless on where to start.  Anyone know what to do.  I need steps.  Thanks!

Is it typical for community college to not accept an iep diploma?

    Favourite answer:

AN IEP 'diploma' is not a diploma at all. They call it that to continue the charade that is IDEA which is nothing more that the federal government's permission for your local school district to cheap out on the special school your child really needed to attend. That's what least restrictive classroom is really about. Forcing teachers and other children who are also entitled to FAPE bear the classroom burden so your school district can save money.

Should people go easy on me since I'm special needs autistic person?

    Favourite answer:

I don't know if "go easy on you" is the right way to put it. It's not making things easy / giving you special treatment because you're autistic, it's making things more equal / giving you accommodations that you deserve. Society should reform to fit the needs of disabled and neurodivergent people, not the other way around. You deserve the accommodations you need to make it an equal playing field, but I hesitate to call it "going easy on you"... Don't give neurotypicals any reason to start claiming you get special treatment and are at an advantage.

Can a newborn have facial signs of autism?

    Favourite answer:

No, there is no specific face type for autism.

Also; children's faces change as they grow up (otherwise everyone would look like a baby). A vaccine has NO bearing on autism, as has been proven repeatedly. This is a baseless claim.

Will my children in the future one day be autistic because I am?

I'm a 20 year old autistic male. I've always wondered, when/if I have children one day, will they also develop autism just because I have it?

    Double standards?

Okay so it most people would agree it is wrong to call a black person "ni**er".  Most people would agree it is wrong to call an intellectually disabled or special needs person "retarded".

Is calling a female dog a "*****" equivalent to calling a black person "ni**er" or calling an intellectually disabled person "retarded".

    Someone-calls a female dog a "*****"

That same someone-thinks it is wrong to call a black person "ni**er" or call an intellectually disabled person "retarded".

    Is this double standards?

What could be wrong with my husband? What kind of learning disability could he have? Am I being to harsh or do I have reason for concern?

    Favourite answer:

    This is a big problem.

You say he is not very smart. He has probably heard that his whole life amd that is why you are seeing anger when you bring it up.

He needs to be tested by a professional for learning disabilities.  He may find out a way to learn and work around his problems.  Sounds like they just pushed him through school without seeking out what his problems were. Or assuming he was “dumb”.

My son has learning disabilities. Many have nothing to do with intelligence. He is very smart and insightful.

It may not be a LD. You don’t know. He doesn’t know, which is why is must be brought up to a doctor and addressed with the right professionals and tests.

Do,you do things for him?  Do you cover for him?  Perhaps let it go and let him see how much he can not deal with every day tasks.

Why does my 7 year old son keep trying to hang upside down off his bunk bed?

    Favourite answer:

Any kid that age is going to do what feels good to them. It is something he likes, so he wants it. Just let him alone.

Is it true that autism people are dairy tolerance or does dairy tolerance happens to anyone? does it affect anyone’s body ?

I am a 22 y/o female with autism spectrum disorder.

I was put on gluten free and dairy free diet this health doctor(my dad found her online, don’t get me wrong I love my dad and I wish he didn’t found her online) she said to me that dairy is worse than gluten and it is tolerance.

I was put on these diets because of my autism, years later just last year I found a source that gluten free and dairy free diet with autism is a fake treatment, I haven’t used that health doctor just before my 18th and she basically trying to take money after she gave me health tablets.

I don’t like having special treatments it does annoy me and plus I feel like a main character like Harry Potter. That gluten free and dairy free diet made me lost so much weight, now I only care about myself rather than my autism, I don’t really like my autism because I have been bullied in the past, getting special treatments, people treated me differently than to others, I’ve tried to make friends but I was never included, I’ve have always been quite and I just want to be a regular person.

I don’t know if it’s true with anyone that dairy tolerance happens to anyone’s body or is it just  happens to anyone who has autism’s body.

I don’t know if it is actually true and I need answers, I just upsets me and I want to be a regular human.

Is it possible for someone to pretend to not have autism?

I have autism, I have an old friend of mine who is autistic and we used to hang out all the time throughout high school, but in our senior year, we started to fade away. Shortly after we graduated high school I found out his mother (who is extremely overprotective of him) was thinking that I'm pretending not to have autism to make friends with people who do not have autism. That comment made me and my mom really mad. Is it possible for an autistic person who pretend they don't have autism?

Why are autism and ADHD “mental illness” when they’re actually more closer to things like Learning disabilities than a true mental illness? ?

As an autistic, autism by definition is a developmental disorder  weird that autism and adhd are considered mental health disorders. If you look at a long list of mental health disorders I would say everyone who lives long enough will exhibit mental illness. It’s the price of being alive. If that’s true the concept is meaningless.

Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, tourettes, dysgraphia, cerbal palsy, learning disabilities, and Down syndrome developmental disabilities not mental illnesses. They’re their own catogory.

    Having my disability questioned.?

I notified my managers that I am Autistic(High Functioning,) but they tell me that I am lying and that I'm not Autistic. Is that against work ethics or Disability Act or can they do that.
