Do grades matter in college, as long as you DON'T fail and earn your degree?

I know in high school, grades do matter in order to get scholarships, which can save you a lot of money. But most people's next step after college is to start their job life, so as long as you get your degree, are grades important? Do employers look at your college transcript?

My classmate copied my answer word for word, how do I make sure I don't get blamed for this?

In my college course we are required to do weekly discussion boards, I typed up my response and submitted it but the next day when I went to respond to my classmates this person had submitted the same exact paragraph as me, they clearly copied and pasted my answer. I am nervous that I could be blamed for this, what can I do? Thank you ❤.

When it’s summer, what do college students who live in dorms do?

    Favourite answer:

College dorms are only open during the semesters when classes are offered. If a college has no summer term, then the dorms close, and the students go back to their families' homes. Nearly all college dorm leases are for four months (one semester) or ten months (two semester) only.

If a college has summer classes available, then dorms are available as well, for the students enrolled in summer classes. You would almost certainly have to switch dorm rooms; you aren't able to just stay in the same room as you did in the spring semester. There will be a few days between the Spring term ending and the Summer term beginning, and between the Summer term ending and the fall semester beginning, that the dorms are closed entirely for cleaning and maintenance.

As an alternative, in colleges in city and suburban settings, there are generally a number of students that live in off-campus housing. If someone needs to stay near campus but doesn't necessarily take classes (for example, an international student who can't afford to fly home), they will often sublet an off-campus apartment for the summer, from a renter who rents the apartment year-round (most non-academic leases are for one year minimum) but who doesn't want to remain there all summer.

What if an international student doesn't want to fly home, but attends a rural college that has no summer housing? Well, that's the sort of thing one has to consider when determining whether to attend, and which, university overseas. Some will put most of their stuff into storage, and spend the summers traveling or working in a place that provides housing, like a resort or summer camp.

Is college similar to high school?

In terms of the drama between the students, and the nostalgia of the experience?

Should I go into nursing just for the money/to please my parents?

    Favourite answer:

I would offer that its almost never a good idea to enter any career simply because others are pressuring you to do so.  That would be especially true for positions such as nursing, in which an unmotivated or disinterested person could cause true harm.  If someone doesn't want to be a nurse, they should not be a nurse.  That being said, you should plan on some kind of career.

Ronald Reagan regularly used to comment upon how families need 2 wages earners to get by, and that was back in the 1980s. Decades of creeping inflation and low wage growth have made that even more true today.  If Walmart interests you, for example, you might want to look into a career in retail management.

Colleague at work got angry because I couldn't help them?

I was at work and a colleague asked me to help them fix an error they had with the machinery. They had really done a number on it because I had never seen it do that before. I told them I truthfully didn't know the answer and that I had to do my own job before I could help them. I gave my sympathy and my apologies and recommended they ask another member of staff. That didn't go down very well with them. They literally thought I was lying about not knowing and they wouldn't let me leave until I had resolved it for them. They got so pissed that I wasn't answering their questions.

How can I handle a situation like this better? How could I have ended this more quickly so I could get back to my work? Did my response really come off as deceitful like I was lying about not knowing on purpose?

Do Accounting majors have to take calculus?

    Favourite answer:

It depends on the university, of course.

In my experience (YMMV), accounting majors are typically required to take business calculus for two semesters. Engineering and natural science science majors, typically have three semesters of introductory calculus. The business calculus didn't get into multivariable and vector calculus.

I'd say the accounting field might be saturated, but it's not *over*-saturated.  Accounting is one of the more recession-proof majors out there for new graduates.

Nothing guarantees a job, of course, and you'll still have to work hard and get good grades. But with a decent GPA and couple of good internships under your belt, you should have no trouble finding an entry-level position in accounting; you can't say that for any other bachelor's degree, except maybe engineering. Even nursing is becoming over-saturated. Your opportunities will expand with a CPA certificate.

How can I find out what my son wants to do with his life if he has always struggled in school?

My son has yet to complete his high school diploma and he says he doesn't know what courses he will take in college if any Im guessing because he hasn't completed his high school diploma. How likely is it that he will pursue college? He's into video games and not very much involved in sports. He does work though full times but on a temporary basis here and there.

What major should I choose if I want to be a pilot in the Air Force?

    Favourite answer:

The other answers are good, so allow me to make a side recommendation.  Before starting this path, have your vision checked.  I went most of the way through high school planning to be a military pilot, only to discover in my senior year I needed glasses.  To my knowledge, the "20-20 uncorrected" standard is still the requirement for military pilots.

Does your college affect getting a job?

Let’s say you major in the same field at a public state university vs. at Princeton University - a private Ivy League college. You also study for the same number of years. How are the job opportunities that you get different? Do employers look at your resume and care about your college?

Should I go the CC route for this?

    Favourite answer:

I would apply to multiple programs and see where you are accepted.  You can be a Registered Nurse (RN) with either an ASN/ADN (offered at community colleges) or a BSN (offered at 4-year colleges and universities).  But you can also usually get your ASN/ADN and then pursue an RN-BSN program down the road if that's what you want to do.

I am a Senior in College, is it too late to be a lawyer? Pre-Law , changing major?

All my life I have pursued chemistry. It hasn't been my best subject but it has always intrigued me, up until now. I am finishing junior year (this May) and am completing my biochemistry degree (premed). When I started college I had all A's in chem. Now I am averaging Cs in Organic 1 and up.

I believe I am more interested in law school but my entire college career has been centered around the sciences with a few gen eds about history, philosophy english. Being realistic, can I salvage a Law career?

I won't get into detail about why I am pursuing law. Essentially my drive for premed was money driven, with law I can genuinely see myself changing people's lives.

What are my options, is this realistic?

Are the days you’re in university ie (attending class Monday Tuesday Wednesday) the same each year of study or do they change each year?

Just curious as I’m currently having classes on these days and I had a job interview which requires me to work Mondays and Tuesdays. As we’re in a pandemic I feel that it would be fine for now however I hope the days I have class will change as I progress into second year (UK).

What is the difference between an Accounting major and a Marking or Human Resource major? Can a Marking or HR  major get Accounting jobs? ?

The major difference I see in the programs are that Accounting majors take intermediate accounting in their core classes but HR majors take HR classes and Marking majors taking marking classes.
